CEC Athletes’ Commission Elections
We have had 1 candidate for the presidency spot and 1 candidate for the boulder representative spot. The candidates are as follows:
- Stacey Weldon
- Alannah Yip
To clarify some points:
- To vote for an AC representative (not president), you must compete in the discipline in which you are voting for.
- To vote for the president, you must compete in at least 1 of the 3 disciplines at the National Championships. You do not get more than 1 vote for the presidency if you compete in multiple disciplines.
- Although there is only 1 candidate for each field, we will still proceed with elections.
After some comments on the initial AC post, the presidency spot was chosen to be elected at Boulder Nationals for numerous reasons; the biggest reason is that as per the CEC statutes, the presidency must be put on the ballot 21 days before for the upcoming AGM. The next AGM will be held at Lead/Speed Nationals on the May long weekend.
RE: Proxy voting: If you are going to compete at Lead/Speed Nationals, to vote for the presidency spot (which will be held at Bouldering Nationals), you must send an email to the current athlete rep (firstname.lastname@example.org) with the following:
- Full Name
- Discipline at Nationals
- Who you are voting for
- Attached photo of yourself holding up your photo ID*
*The Photo ID is to check authenticity of the climber
Please note that athletes who vote and do not qualify or choose not to compete at Nationals will have their votes removed from the election.
