Calgary, AB: August 22,2018 – Climbing Escalade Canada (CEC) is pleased to announce the appointment of two key positions within the organization that took effect on August 1, 2018.
- Jeff Thompson(former High-Performance Director) has been appointed Interim Executive Director and Technical Director. Jeff comes to us with many years of experience in a variety of roles with Gymnastics Canada and has been acting as the CEC’s High-Performance Director since December, 2017. The ED reports directly to the board.
Amongst a variety of responsibilities Jeff will be managing CEC’s day to day operations, in the areas of Strategic Planning, budgeting and financial management, liaising with the IFSC and other sport governing bodies, policies and procedures and High Performance Administration.
- Andrew Wilson(former National Head Coach) has been appointed Interim High-Performance Director and National Head Coach. Andrew comes to us with many years of experience within Canada’s competition climbing community. He may be best known for his coaching expertise but has also been National Youth and Open Head Coach as well as the Executive Director of the CEC for a number of years when it was a part of the Alpine Club of Canada (ACC). This wealth of experience and knowledge of Canada’s competition climbing history will certainly be a significant value to the CEC moving forward.
Some of Andrew’s responsibilities will include Strategic planning, Budgeting and financial management related to the High Performance (HP) Program and athlete funding, HP- related administration, Coaching, Training Programs, team selection and criteria.
