May 1, 2024

CEC is thrilled to announce our assistant coaches for the Youth World Championships! These coaches were selected by the head coaches Frederick Desgranges and Paige Boklaschuk. The 2024 Youth World Championships will take place in China in August. Welcome to the team coaches!

Bethany Staubitz

Bethany (she/her) is the Head Coach at Junction Climbing Centre in London, Ontario; she has been coaching out of that facility since 2016 and was an Assistant Coach with the CEC for the Youth World Cup in 2022. In addition to her coaching background she also works as a Registered Dietitian with London Health Sciences Centre. Beth’s approach to coaching is to promote an inclusive climbing community that can support the competitive drive of high level performance, while emphasizing a healthy relationship with food and sport. She is excited to share this outlook with coaches and athletes from across the country in preparation for the 2024 Youth World Cup.

This passion for the sport led him to completing a Bachelors of Science in Sport Science and a Masters of Science in Sport Psychology. Currently he is a Doctoral Student in Elite Performance – specifically researching the psychological development of youth climbers, a Mental Performance Consultant for the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific supporting Team Canada athletes across a range of Olympic sports, and a Faculty Member in the Sport Science Department at Douglas College. Dallas Mix

Dallas is the Head Coach for the Calgary Climbing Centre Performance Team. He spent 6 years teaching for the faculty of Kinesiology at the University of Alberta where he received his Masters of Coaching through the faculty of Kinesiology. Dallas entered his graduate degree halfway into his career as a climbing coach, and as he was learning in the classroom he was immediately able to experiment with and implement concepts directly into his practice. His final project was on strength training for climbing athletes. Dallas’ background in sport science uniquely qualifies him for the High Performance Program Technical Coach position with Team Canada and he looks forward to working with the team. Dallas is also Olympic Squad head coach.
